ABOUT ME

Dr. Jeremiah Fernandez Johnson is a long-time educator, leader, and advocate for educational equity with a deep commitment to serving students and families in Chaffee County. He is running for Chaffee County School Board District 10. Currently serving as Assistant Dean at Colorado Mountain College, Dr. Johnson leads regional efforts in concurrent enrollment and career technical education, building bridges between local high schools, college programs, and career pathways that support real-world success for every student.

A first-generation college student, Jeremiah earned his doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Denver. He also holds a certificate in Strategic Leadership from Harvard University’s Professional Development Program. His academic and professional work has focused on eliminating achievement gaps, advancing inclusive pedagogy—particularly Native American and Indigenous perspectives—and supporting students from low-income and marginalized communities.

As a school board candidate in Buena Vista, Jeremiah brings over 15 years of experience in educational leadership, policy, and community partnership development. He believes strongly that every child in Chaffee County deserves the opportunity to thrive—academically, emotionally, and socially—in a safe, supportive school environment.

His vision is simple: stronger schools, stronger students, stronger community. Jeremiah is running to ensure our schools remain a place where all students are valued, educators are supported, and families have a true voice in shaping the future of education in Buena Vista. can make all the difference.
